How VLM Carpet Cleaners Can Upsell Protector To Their Customers

Hi again – VLM Guy with a quick tip.

You can make a lot more money in the carpet cleaning business if you learn to upsell additional treatments & services.

Some carpet cleaners offer upholstery cleaning, tile floor cleaning, etc.

The easiest way I’ve found to make more money?

Sell carpet protector.

“Protector” is a treatment you can apply to the carpet after you finish cleaning. It has many benefits, including:
-Protector helps your carpet last longer
-Protector will help reduce “resoiling” so the carpet looks cleaner for longer
-Most protestors are cheap! You can buy a 1 gallon container for under $40 or $50 in most cases.

But how do you sell protector? Isn’t it awkward trying to “upsell” people?

It doesn’t need to be difficult or awkward!

Try this: when you’re booking a job (on the phone, via message, or in-person), simply ask “do you want to add protector?”

About ⅓ of people will just say “yes” without thinking about it.

Charge them a little extra per room to add the protector. About $15-$20 per room is usually a good place to start.
